The Beethoven Project Trio
beethoven_trioFrom Wikipedia: "The Beethoven Project Trio is a piano trio that was formed in Chicago in 2008. ... Its founding members are pianist George Lepauw, cellist Wendy Warner, and violinist Sang Mee Lee. The purpose of the Beethoven Project Trio is to explore all of Beethoven's trio works and to approach them within the context of all the great trio works written since then, up until the 21st century. Their concerts have featured or will feature programming centered on Beethoven, but with a range going from Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms to others within the lineage of Beethoven's influence on other composers. Of particular importance for the group is the commissioning and premiering of new piano trio works, to help expand the piano trio literature at a time when the form is not used often by composers. The Beethoven Project Trio also has a strong educational mission, which the group fulfills by giving performances in schools, giving lectures, and master classes."

The Buonacorsi Foundation is an enthusiastic supporter of the Beethoven Project Trio. The foundation sponsored the worldwide simulcast of the May 2009 world premier performance in Chicago, as well as the production of the group's 2010 world premier recording CD.
